Contender: Buffalo Chicken Sandwich
While watching a football game at a local bar, I decided to partake in some bar food. And whaddya know, they had some buff chix available. This one was not original or creative, it was just a good old buffalo chicken sandwich. And I’ll tell you what – I loved it!
The menu says: “Grilled or Crispy Chicken Dipped in Buffalo Sauce & Topped w/Blue Cheese”. I opted for the Crispy, because…YOLO?
Anyway, this was a great little sandwich. The ratios of chicken, sauce, bleu cheese and shredded lettuce were spot on. I was worried that the crumbled bleu cheese wouldn’t be enough, but it definitely was. The buffalo sauce had a hint of sweetness that shocked me at first, but it grew on me as the sandwich dwindled. And the proverbial cherry on top? The bun was toasted. It’s such a simple thing, but it makes such a big difference! In my experience, a properly toasted bun can increase the sandwich experience by up to 2 points.
So, nothing earth shattering here, just some unexpectedly good pub food. Well done, Lumpys!
