Date: July 6th, 2014
Location: Buffalo Wild Wings; JFK Airport, NY
Contender: Buffalo Chicken Flatbread
Confession time – before last week, I’d never been to a Buffalo Wild Wings. I know that surprises people. I don’t have a good excuse, really. I’d just never been. Anyway, I decided to rectify that during a layover at JFK airport in NYC.
Obviously, looking at the menu, I was presented with an embarrassment of buff chix riches. I finally settled on the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread. The menu says “Our crispy, oven-baked flatbread pizza crust covered with a blend of our signature Spicy Garlic sauce™ and blue cheese dressing, chicken, fresh celery bits and mozzarella-provolone cheese blend.”
The mix of cheeses was quite pleasant. There was enough structural integrity to hold a pizza together, but enough creamy bleu cheesiness to satisfy. The sauce was divine – it was equal parts spicy, garlicky, and buffalo-y. The crust of the flatbread was really nicely done. It was soft in the middle and crunchy around the edges, which gives you the best of both worlds. And you all know that celery chunks are always welcome atop my buff chix conquests.
Overall, this was a great introduction to BWW. I’ll definitely have to go back (maybe not to an airport in NY, though) and try out many of their other buff chix menu items.
