This one is for all my vegetarian fans!  Actually, I’ll let you all in on a secret.  Although “chix” is in the name, the chicken is really just a vehicle for getting buffalo sauce and bleu cheese into my mouth.  I am not necessarily loyal to chicken, but it tends to be what I encounter most in my genre of food blogging.  I’m not really a huge meat-eater, and strangely enough I quite like tofu. So I’m excited to tell you about this tofu sandwich at one of my favorite places in my college stomping grounds.

The menu says: “battered & fried tofu with our killer buffalo sauce, blue cheese, lettuce & tomato, on a French roll”.  Take off the red seedy devil, and I’m down!  The fried tofu actually has a really nice texture.  It’s soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside, but not weird and spongy.  The taste of tofu is really whatever you put on it, which in this case is some spicy buffalo sauce!  This sandwich is not for the wimps!  The roll is quite crispy and fresh.  My one complaint would be that they’re a little skimpy on the blue cheese.  Then again, I’m a gal who likes my blue cheese!

Christopher’s is a favorite in more than one of my friend circles in the Boston area.  And with good reason.  I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a bad meal there.  Their steak fries are thick and crunchy and amazing.  Even the pickles are great!  So if you find yourself in Porter Square in Cambridge, and/or if you’re a vegetarian who wants to get in on this whole buffalo craze, I can’t recommend this place (and this sandwich) enough!
