While enjoying a night of trivia a few weeks ago, this little ditty caught my eye.  The menu says: Buffalo chicken bites, blue cheese crumbles, tomatoes, bacon and “Suestrings”.  I ditched the tomatoes because they are the fruit of the devil, and I passed on the bacon because…I just don’t like it that much.  I know that’s un-American, but I’d just rather enjoy my buff chix without it.

Anyway, this salad was as delicious as it was unique.  The bed of mixed greens was fresh and crispy and provided the perfect base for the dish.  The chicken had sort of an herb-y parmesan-y crust which could have felt a little out of place, but somehow it worked.  The buffalo sauce was a little different, maybe a little sweeter than normal, but still spicy.  It gathered in the bottom of the dish and worked into a nice, spicy dressing.  And then there were the “Suestrings”, or onion straws.  This was the perfect topper to go with the salad!  They’re a little crunchy, a little chewy, and fried in deliciousness.  It added a unique flair that I haven’t yet encountered in any of my buff chix expeditions so far, and I loved it!

My one complaint is that there wasn’t enough blue cheese.  Then again, I don’t know if there even exists a saturation level of blue cheese that could satisfy my love for the stuff…

Overall, I really enjoyed this salad and a night of kicking some trivia butt with my homies.  This dish gets points for originality, deliciousness, and presentation.
