Contender: Buffalo Chicken Wrap
This little deli opened up within walking distance of the lab where I work, so my team and I trekked over there for lunch one afternoon to give it a go. Buffalo chicken wrap on the menu? Sign me up!
The menu says “oven roasted chicken dredged in spicy wing sauce; cooled down with ranch dressing, blue cheese crumbles, lettuce & tomato on an herb wrap.” No tomato for me, but otherwise we’re good to go.
Or not. I really didn’t care much for this “wrap”. First of all, let’s talk about presentation and structural integrity. This was really some lettuce and chicken and other ingredients slapped together and loosely covered by a tortilla. There was a LOT of lettuce. I like my lettuce, but the ratios were all off. Basically, too much lettuce, and not enough of anything else.
Ratio issues aside, I was also not super-impressed with some of the individual elements themselves. The chicken was fine, but the sauce was thin, watery, and overwhelmingly vinegar-y. The tortilla was kind of stiff, and I can’t even confirm that there was blue cheese in it, to be honest.
I was wholly unimpressed, and didn’t even bother to finish it. This is a disappointing showing for the newcomer to my work ‘hood. This could have been the start of a beautiful relationship…but alas, it was not to be.
